I know it's 24 hours or more late deal with it.
SOPA and PIPA are Congress' way of telling us "Go screw a lightbulb internet fans!". They think that they will be stopping piracy with these laws, but really they are taking away people's freedom of speech. Why? Because these laws are simply destroying links to websites that contain piracy. They aren't destroying the piracy itself, and they may destroy the DNS (Domain Name Server) with the pirate content. Free licenses like the ones used by Youtube or VEVO will no longer exist. Therefore, these sites would cease to exist, especially Youtube. Wikipedia would also cease to exist, because if it links to a site that has broken the standards of these bills it would have to take the information out and therefore none of it's articles would never be complete... or something.
House judiciary committee chair representative Lamar S. Smith (Republican- Texas) came up with SOPA and presented it on Oct. 26 2011. PIPA was made by senator Patrick Leahy (Democrat- Vermont) on May 12, 2011. They are very similar. Irony eh? Democrats and Republicans agreeing and whatnot?
If a site violates these laws and is discovered then the government will ask search engines like Google to omit these site's links from the searches with a message like this:
"(i) remove or disable access to the Internet site associated with the domain name set forth in the [court] order; or (ii) not serve a hypertext link to such Internet site."

Point is I'm against this whole SOPA and PIPA thing as much as the next person and we have to create awareness on what they mean.
I AM SO ANGRY (and I won't say more because I don't want the government to kill me either...) =-=
